Fireant colonies can grow incredibly fast! Within 5 months 15-20 workers can expand to over 7,000, and by the time the colony is 3 years old they can have a population of over 50,000. At maturity, a fire ant colony can grow to well over 400,000 ants. When a single acre of land can hold up to 400 mounds, their army grows exponentially!

2. 5. Long before the Russian-focused Tupolev OKB developed the famous Soviet Cold War bomber, it dabbled in fighter design with the I-4 ANT-5 biplane in 1928. This model became the Soviet Union's first all-metal fighter and grew to produce hundreds of them during the interwar period. A handful of variants welcome the service career of this oft-forgotten fighter. The hunter's design is credited to Pavel Sukhoi. In addition to the all-metal design, the I-4 has traditional physical characteristics consistent with the mid-term. The lone pilot sits in the open-air cockpit behind the upper wing. The upper and lower parts are connected to each other by V-shaped struts. The span of the lower assembly was also shorter, allowing the biplane wing to be arranged as a "half-wing". The landing gear rolls on two main legs below the center mass, and a slide is added below the tail for ground operation. The rear wing is conventional, with a single rear wing, and the level is set low. Engineers selected a 420 hp air-cooled 9-cylinder radial piston engine for the French Gnome-Rhone Jupiter and installed it in the bow section. The engine drives a two-bladed propeller with a large-diameter spinner in the center for aerodynamic efficiency. The proposed weapon became a 2 x machine gun, firing synchronously via rotating propeller blades. Later during testing, provisions were added to carry missiles along the upper wings, increasing the fighter's attack rating. The first flight prototype form "ANT-5" was recorded in August 1927. This resulted in some design revisions, including a new fairing and a revised tail unit. The ANT-5 was subsequently commissioned as "I-4". In terms of performance, the I-4 has a top speed of 160 mph, a range of up to 525 miles, and a service ceiling of up to 25,100 feet. The climb rate is 1,820 feet per minute. Curb weight is 2,155 lbs and maximum takeoff weight MTOW is 3,155 lbs. The improved model of the first series was equipped with a 460-480 hp Mikulin M-22 engine licensed manufactured copy of the Gnome-Rhone "Jupiter" 9ASB. The "I-4Z" followed, a version that introduced a smaller lower wing. After the complete removal of the lower wing and thus a true monoplane, the aircraft was modified to the developed form "I-4bis". "I-4P" became a modified seaplane derivative. A total of 369 I-4s were completed by 1934, the last of which had been withdrawn from front-line service as early as 1933though the I-4s continued to serve as training vehicles for a time. The I-4 series was also briefly tried as a "parasite fighter" in experiments in the 1930s which included firing 76mm Kurchevsky recoilless guns from aircraft, in the new Tupolev TB- 1/TB-3 was coupled to a serial mothership described elsewhere on this page in experiments conducted. 1 I will have to make a choice between these two rackets and I probably will go for the 280 gram version which I obviously will lead up with a heavy leather grips and two overgrips. I will have to make a choice between these two rackets. I know there are some members here who have them both or tried them both and know the differences. I've heard Chris from TW report that the KI5 has a more lively feeling which is not what I assume the Ki5 is more open in the sweetspot?? because of the lively feeling. I suppose that this goes for all the ki5's in every weight category. I'm looking for the one with the best vibration, precision and the most comfortable feeling, the one with more control so less power and everything else that I forgot to ask... 2 My racquet of choice is the Ki5x, and I also demoed the Ki5. As you would guess, the Ki5x just feels like a heavier, more stable Ki5. I never tried the Q5. I just never really got the urge to do it. I've tried other racquets but I always come back to the Ki5x. One of the things I like about it is the lively feel. I wouldn't say it's too lively like a Prince Tour 100, which feels like a trampoline. It also doesn't have the raw power of the Babolat APD or PD, which was too much for me. I just like the fact that it doesn't feel dead like a lot of other control racquets out there, and I would definitely put it in the control category. The dampening and comfort of the Ki5x is outstanding. I have a sensitive arm, and I had to switch from the Babolat APD because it was giving me TE. My TE was completely cured after about a week of playing with the Ki5x. I wouldn't say it's as comfortable as a Prince Tour 100 or Tour 98, but it's a better fit for my game. I think the most similar racquets I tried are the Wilson and Babolat Pure Storm previous version of the Pure Control. Compared to both, the Ki5x is more comfortable, slightly more lively, and feels to me like it has a bigger sweetspot. To me, it feels less jarring on off-center hits. I'm a little skeptical about whether the Q series kinetic system is an improvement over the Ki kinetic system. Why would putting the particles in 4 places be better than putting it around the entire head? Seems to me, that would make it less "kinetic". I think one benefit is less sound, but the sound doesn't bother me anyway, and I don't think it would bother the great majority of tennis players. The original racquet that was tested at MIT and proven to reduce shock had a system more similar to the Ki series than the Q series. 3 I have the q5, ki5 320new version, and pro7g. The ki5 is not more open in the sweetspot, all three racquets have the identical string pattern. The most comfortable ones are the ki5 and pro 7g, pro 7g slightly more comfortable probably because of the extended length. The new ki5 is sold only in europe as of now and the only difference between it and the previous ki5 is a little more mass320 vs. 315 and a bit stiffer. It is my go to racquet. Power is a bit more in ki5 320 because of higher swing weight. Ki5 315 is probably the most comfortable. Ki5 has slightly longer mains in the middle so it may be a bit more lively but I can't detect much of a difference. You might want to get the ki5 because it will be more comfortable than q5 but a bit more lively. Liveliness is easy to adjust with the right string setup. I assume you are in europe because of the bigger choice of each version. Looking at the specs in TW europe the ki5 280 will have a higher swing weight than the q5 280. 4 I haven't tried the Q5 but have demoed a QTour. The older Kinetic system is more comfortable than the more slim-lined kinetic system found in the Q series. 5 I have the q5, ki5 320new version, and pro7g. Does this mean that the KI5 has a different headshape. More oval I guess? Not really, the difference is a couple of millimeters at around 6 o'clock. Very hard to notice unless you line up the racquets and look very closely. 7 Thanks, very helpful. I think I will go for the KI5. It seems a control racket with just a bit of extra power. I think I will like this one. 8 The q5 is stiffer and seems to have less kinetic dampening compared to the Ki5. They ki5 is flexible a requires you to generate more of your own power. I have the ki5, ki5x, the q5, q5x an the qtour 300. These are excellent frames for anyone who worries about long term health health of your arm and being able to play the game. I suggest the ki5 315 for anyone who I starting in in series... 9 It seems OP is in europe where they don't have the ki5 315. The new ki5's seem stiffer. New ki5 does seem to have more dampening but the power is there due to the stiffer specs and higher swing weight compared to the q5's. 10 Yes - i saw the new KI5's in TW Europe - and i am a little concerned. Perhaps PK is trying to get more modern, power frames on to the market, but the stiffness of the new KI's scares me a little. I do like the new weights and selections they have. Being able to choose in 20 gram increments 320, 300, 280, 260 is a nice touch. Nice to see the yellow graphics come back a-la the old Kinetic 5G 11 It seems OP is in europe where they don't have the ki5 315. The new ki5's seem stiffer. The Ki5 320 and 300 have a stiffness of 68! Here in the US, all the Ki5 variants are at 62. This is shocking! 12 Wow! I just looked at the TW Europe site. The Ki5 320 and 300 have a stiffness of 68! Not at all, they feel softer than the specified stiffness but still firm yet comfortable. PK probably feels it can afford to increase stiffness without causing players to have arm problems because of it's great arm friendly technology. 15 I have compared it to my BLX blade 98 and it is bigger at the bottom of the hoop so I would say it is 100 in squared assuming the blade is a true 98. 16 Yes - bigger than the 98's i have, so should be 100. 17 Call me superstitious all of us tennis players are - admit it - but i a going to buy an extra Ki5 before they discontinue the racket. It is hard to find more flexible rackets that still have good power characteristics.
